New generation IS receives aggressive styling similar to LF-CC concept
Lexus has released official photos of the next-generation IS ahead of its 2013 North American International Auto Show global debut next week in Detroit.
The styling of the new Lexus IS is highlighted by the spindle grille brand identity flanked by independent Lexus-trademarked, L-shaped Daytime Running Lights (DRL) accenting the rather jagged dual beam headlamps. The F-Sport variants get an exclusive front bumper and a higher-beltline spindle grill.
A strong horizontal beltline shows off the large rear tires and the low center of gravity of the car. A rising crease line from the lower body extends through the longer wheelbase to the wide rear flares sweeping to the rear lamps exuding an elegant yet sporty profile.
The LFA-inspired driver's cockpit features a focused, ergonomically ideal environment from within, which the driver can fully exploit the new Lexus compact sedan's superb driving dynamics. The wider dimensions, longer wheelbase and slimmer front sport seats promise more knee-room and interior space. The center console features a new Lexus-first electrostatic airconditiong switches and the rear seats are now 60/40 split folding for more luggage space. F-Sport variants are equipped with moving center ring instrumentation inherited from the LFA, 3-D effect ornamentation, perforated leather steering wheel and shift knob, black stitch seats, and aluminum pedals and scuff plates.
The F-Sport also features an exclusive Rioja Red interior color option.
The all-new IS model range will include IS 250, IS 350, and the IS 300h, the first IS to feature Lexus Hybrid Drive. The new Lexus IS is scheduled to make its debut in the Philippines this year.
The global reveal will also be webcast on www.lexus.com and the Lexus Facebook page via live stream on January 15, 930am EST.
