New Accord takes pride on its improved Honda DNA of durability, quality, and reliability
Today, Honda Cars Philippines, Inc. unveiled the 2014 Accord at Blue Leaf Filipinas in Pasay City. On its 9th generation, the Accord takes pride on its improved 'Honda DNA' of durability, quality, and reliability. The engineers designed the new car to combine fuel economy, fun driving performance, comfortable ride, and safety features.
"I could not think of anything but to start the year right by introducing Honda's flagship model. With the launch of the All New Accord, we aim to present nothing but a sedan that excels in all areas that customers expect from this segment from exterior to interior," said Mr. Tatsuya Natsume, HCPI’s President and General Manager in his executive remarks during the launch.
Based on the 'dynamic intelligent sedan' exterior concept, Honda says the new Accord's body panel and perfectly contoured body improves the aerodynamic concept of the new model. For illumination, it is equipped with LED daytime running lights, LED brake lights, fog lights, power folding side mirrors with signal lights, and LED dual projector type headlights (a first-in-class-feature).
The new Accord measures 4,890mm long, 1,850mm wide, 1,465mm tall, with a 2,775mm wheelbase. Compared to its predecessor, it sits on a 25mm shorter wheelbase, while the body was also shortened by 45mm and stands lower by 11mm, but width has been increased by 5mm.
Applying the 'man maximum, machine minimum' design concept, the new Accord features a more compact exterior with a more spacious cabin offering generous head, foot, and leg room. Leather seating is standard with power adjustments on both front seats for a more comfortable and smooth drive.
It also has features such as the push start button and a full-colour 8-inch screen which is designed with the intelligent Multi Information Display (iMID). This screen shows information such as fuel consumption, trip computer, and other necessary vehicle information. The smaller of the two screens which is located at the bottom is for the audio system and hands-free telephone function and audio streaming via Bluetooth connectivity. Cabin noise is also improved through the Active Noise Control (ANC) and Active Sound Control (ASC).
For convenience and safety, it features a multi-view reverse camera, Active Cornering Lights, Emergency Stop Signal (ESS) SRS airbags, side airbags (and curtain airbags for 3.5SV), anti-lock braking system (ABS) with electronic brake-force distribution (EBD), vehicle stability assist (VSA) and hill start assist.
The all new Accord is the first model in the Philippines to be powered by Honda's 'Earth Dreams Technology'. Under the hood is either a 3.5L V6 capable of producing 281 PS at 6,200 rpm mated a 6-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters or a 2.4L DOHC i-VTEC 4-cylinder producing 175 PS at 6,200 rpm mated to a five-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters.
There are five color choices for the new midsize sedan: Modern Steel Metallic, White Orchid Pearl (additional Php 20,000), Crystal Black Pearl, Carnelian Red Pearl, Alabaster Silver Metallic (2.4 S only). Pricing is at PhP 1,720,000 for the 2.4 S (5-speed AT with Paddle Shifters) and PhP 2,097,000 for the 3.5 SV (6-speed AT with Paddle Shifters).
