The new Mini was designed to be bigger

Mini Asia and British United Automobiles, Inc. recently made the Philippine debut of the the 2014 Mini Cooper at the Bonifacio Global City.

Mini says the 2014 Cooper (F56) is designed to be “bigger, drives better and packed with more technological innovation than before.”

Designed to be bigger, the body of the 2014 Mini Cooper measures at 3,821 mm long (98 mm longer than its predecessor), 1,727 mm wide (+44 mm) and a track width of 1,501 mm (+34 mm). On the other hand, the 2014 Mini Cooper S is 3,850 mm long (+121) and has a track width of 1,485 mm (+32 mm on the front and +24 mm on the rear).

With the new F56 Mini Cooper's larger dimensions, the amount of space available to occupants and luggage has increased. The automaker says the vehicle has an extended adjustment range for  the front seats. The seat surface is lengthened by 23 mm and comes with an increase shoulder room that provide more foot space for the rear passengers. The luggage compartment volume of the vehicle is 211 liters (+55 liters).

The 2014 Mini Cooper offers new optional features that include the head-up display, which shows relevant information to the driver placed in the upper section of the dashboard between the windshield and steering wheel.

It also features a Driving Assistant option that comprises a camera-based cruise control and distance control function that automatically maintains a distance from the vehicle ahead.

Moreover, the vehicle also has an automatic brake that is triggered in the case of an imminent collision with a pedestrian or a risk of a rear-end crash.

An optional rear view camera and parking assistant are also available for the new MINI. The video images supplied by the rear view camera underneath the tailgate handle are shown on the on-board computer in the central instrument as an aid when manoeuvring and reverse parking.

Mini Cooper S engine

The 2014 Mini Cooper S is powered by a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that delivers 195 PS with 280 Nm of torque.  It can go from 0-100 km/h in 6.7 seconds with a top speed of 233 km/h.

While the 2014 Mini Cooper comes with a 1.5-liter three-cylinder engine that generates 138 PS with 220 Nm of torque. It can accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 7.8 seconds with a top speed of 210 km/h.

The 2014 Mini Cooper and Mini Cooper S is priced at Php 2,100,000 and Php 2,600,000 respectively.
