New sedan promises elegance and sophistication with class-leading comfort

Nissan Philippines Inc., launches the 2014 Sylphy sedan as it officially starts a new beginning with their unified national sales company.  It is characterized as an elegant, sophisticated sedan with class-leading comfort.

The global model is sold in more than 120 markets worldwide also as the Sentra (North America) and Pulsar (Australia and New Zealand). The Philippine-market B17 Sylphy will be sourced from Nissan's plant in Samut Prakan, Thailand.

The new sedan measures in at 4615mm long, 1760mm wide, 1495mm tall with a wheelbase of 2700mm. The aerodynamic body design which has a 0.29 Cd (Coefficent of Drag) achieved  with CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) and wind tunnel testing. The body structure has been reinforced to deliver low vibration and reduced noise through optimization of the frame and a larger second seat cross member section.

The exterior design expresses a dynamic and confidently stable feel highlighted by a three-dimensional front grill, 'active face' headlights with LED clearance lamps and horizontal-themed front bumper. The horseshoe-shaped LED tail lights, chrome door handles and 17-inch wheels further accentuate the premium exterior design.

The interior design features ample space highlighted by a feel of spaciousness and refined comfort with the soft pad trim giving a premium interior feel. Glare-reducing 'micro-grain' finish used in the lower instrument panel and the upper front door trims add to a relaxed atmosphere. Both upper spec variants features dual-zone automatic climate control with rear aircon vents.

The 2014 Sylphy will be fitted by either a newly developed lightweight 1.8-liter MRA8DE engine making 131 PS and 174 Newton-meters of torque; or an updated 1.6-liter HR16DE engine which makes 116 PS and 154 Newton-meters. Both feature dual variable valve timing and a dual injector system.

The 1.6-liter engine will be fitted to either a 5-speed manual or an XTRONIC CVT (continuously variable transmission) with sub-planetary gear, while the 1.8-liter variant will be fitted exclusively with a CVT.

Interior space optimization has resulted to a shoulder room of 1390mm, class-leading knee room exceeding even larger sedans and top-level ease of ingress and egress.  It also has the largest cargo capacity at 510 liters.

For safety, it is equipped with dual SRS airbags as standard, four-wheel disc brakes equipped with ABS (Anti-lock Brake System), EBD (Electronic Brake-force Distribution) and BA (Brake Assist) to enhance car control and lessen braking distance. The 1.8 Upper CVT variant also comes with auto-on/off headlamps.

For better security, it features a keyless entry system with remote trunk opener and immobilizer. The top-spec variant features the new I-Key allows for full keyless operation with a push-button engine start.

The all-new Nissan Sylphy is available in Ebony, Brilliant Silver, Grayish Bronze, Deep Iris Gray, and Aspen White.

Early buyers will be able to avail of a introductory price of PHP 799,000 for the Base 1.6 MT, PHP 902,000 for the 1.6L Upper CVT and PHP 988,000 for the 1.8 L Upper CVT.
