HEMI V8 delivers 492 PS
Aside from the redesigned Charger, Dodge unveiled the 2015 Challenger equipped with a 6.4-liter HEMI V8 engine.
The automaker says the vehicle, with its split-grille and split-tail lamps and revised interior, was inspired by the 1971 Challenger model.
The front fascia of the 2015 Challenger has four light-emitting diode (LED) headlamps that are surrounded by a piano black trim. High-intensity discharge (HID) headlamps are also available. Moreover, the front corner lights of the vehicle are single projector-beam units.
The body of the vehicle has large-thruster rear-quarter panels, while the fender and the belt lines join the front and rear together.
The rear of the vehicle has been widened, accentuated by the split-tail, LED tail lamps that the automaker says ‘creates a single ribbon of light within each lamp.’ The 2015 Challenger also has fascia-mounted exhaust tips.
Inside, the instrument panel features an aluminum-stamped driver bezel that has a 7-inch TFT instrumental cluster screen. The gauge cluster has an analog speedometer and tachometer designed with the classic radial numbering and concave shape. At the center stack sits a standard 5-inch Uconnect touch screen, which can be optioned to an 8.4-inch unit.
Dodge says the 2015 Challenger has ‘redesigned seats with improved cushioning and more comfortable contours’ and is available in premium cloth, Ballistic, Nappa leather and Nappa leather with Alcantara Suede.
The 2015 Challenger is powered by a 6.4-liter HEMI engine that can deliver 492 PS with 643 Nm of torque. It is mated to a 6-speed manual or a TorqueFlite 8-speed automatic transmission.
