Features Ford's global DNA design like the trapezoidal grille and wrap-around taillights
Ford Australia has revealed the new Ford Falcon, along with the XR6 sedan and XR8 performance models that will be launched in the fourth quarter of 2014.
Both of the front ends of the XR6 and XR8 feature a chiseled headlamp design along with the signature trapezoid honeycomb mesh grill found on newer Ford models. It also comes with LED daytime running lamps that mimic a hockey stick according to Ford. The XR8 only differs in look as it given a sportier front fascia, has the bonnet power dome and finished up with a tuned sporty V8 exhaust note.
The rear is adorned with a jeweled split-type LED taillight that emphasizes the car’s wide stance and sleek exterior lines. XR models will integrate a rear spoiler on the trunklid and a lower diffuser will encompass the quad exhaust tailpipes of the XR8, highlighting the performance pedigree of the car.
“We’re very excited by the return of the XR8, as this badge has not been seen on a Falcon since 2010. Our enthusiasts have been asking for it so we’ve purposely revealed the Falcon XR6 and XR8 first,” said Bob Graziano, Ford Australia President and CEO
There are no specific engine specifications yet but a wide variety engines that will power the new Falcons include a four-cylinder EcoBoost, two six-cylinder engines that can either be naturally aspirated or turbocharged and a V8.
Pricing and features and complete specifications of the 2014 Ford Falcon will be disclosed as it nears launch.
