Designed for the open road
Ford has just launched the 2015 Mustang Convertible and says to be specifically designed to deliver maximum drop-top enjoyment. The automaker says the new Mustang Convertible is a fantastic way to escape the daily routine of life and hit the open road.
The design process of the 2015 Ford Mustang Convertible was more than just taking the roof off the fastback model. The vehicle was engineered from the ground up to be able to make the give the new Mustang Convertible its own identity. Ford made use of ultra-high-strength steels throughout the body structure.
“From the start, we committed to giving the Mustang convertible a unique look from the fastback with the clean, cohesive design it deserved. From the raised and straightened muscle line on the rear haunches to the recontoured trunklid, the new Mustang convertible has a more linear quality, giving the car its own distinct presence on the road,” said Joel Piaskowski, Exterior Design Director.
For the first time on Mustang, Ford offers every convertible with a full fabric outer layer for the roof plus a full inner headliner to enclose the five-bow structure. It is also designed with a 10mm thick insulation pad to make the convertible nearly as quiet with the top up as compared to the fastback model.
