Mobilio is Honda's first Multi-purpose Utility Vehicle for Asian market
Honda PH has just launched the all-new Mobilio and is Honda's contender for the growing compact 7 seater segment. The Mobilio is positioned to compete against models like the Toyota Avanza, Chevrolet Spin, Suzuki Ertiga and the like.
"Through the years, the Honda brand has earned mastery and experience to develop and offer a variety of premium MUVs. And from this experience, the Honda engineers who worked on the All New Mobilio applied the same technical know-how and Honda DNA of durability, quality and reliability," said Mr. Toshio Kuwahara, HCPI President and General Manager.
Based on the Brio platform, Honda engineers have stretched its chassis all around to generate a multi-purpose vehicle. The Mobilio measures in at 4,386mm long, 1,683mm wide, 1,603mm tall and 2,652mm wheelbase. Being a multi-purpose vehicle, Honda gave the Mobilio has a raised ride height over its hatchback counterpart and Honda claims a 5.2 meter turning radius. The Brio comes in three variants, the base 1.5 E, the midlevel 1.5 V and the top of the line 1.5 RS Navi.
From the front, the familiar Brio headlights are now connected by a wider grille with a matte chrome garnish. The front bumper features a honeycomb pattern for the foglight housings. Moving to the side, a character line runs from the front wheel well which kicks up all the way to the middle of the rear window which kicks down for both lines to merge. On the D-pillar, the Mobilio features a floating pillar which tapers to the rear windshield. All Mobilios ride on 15 inch alloy wheels except for the base 1.5 E variant.
The RS Navi model sports a body kit, an aggressive front bumper, a rear spoiler, an RS exclusive grille and alloy wheels. Also exclusive to the RS Navi are two special colors, White Orchid Pearl and Sunset Orange.
Inside, the Mobilio shares many styling cues with the Brio's dashboard and RS Navi models come with a 7 inch touch screen with a navigation system. Like the top of the line model, the 1.5 V features Bluetooth while the base 1.5 E does without one. All models come with a one touch 60:40 split folding second row seat and a tumbling third row bench seat with 50:50 split backrests. All occupants get individual seatbelts as well.
All models come with a 1.5 liter i-VTEC engine which puts out 120 PS @ 6,600 rpm and 145 Nm of torque @ 4,600 rpm. RS Navi and 1.5 V models come with a CVT transmission.
