Mercedes-Benz unveiled the S65 AMG Coupe, their newest powerhouse to receive the AMG badge.

Chrome surrounds the front, side and rear of the S65, which complements the dark paint finish of the car. The Mercedes-Benz Star, the radiator grille, the front air splitter and the trim on the A-wing also get the chrome treatment.

Chrome inserts on the side skirts and the chrome trimmed exhaust tips at the back give the S65 a look of lavishing style but a resounding presence.

The finest materials adorn the interior, with sport seats dominating the look. The upholstery itself is done in AMG Exclusive Nappa leather that is diamond-patterned, giving not only a stylistic look but also provides a comfortable seating position. The seats themselves are electronically controlled, has memory function, heated seats and lateral support when cornering at high speeds.

The S65 AMG features a new Active Body Control, which makes the car tilt during bends, similar to a motorcyclist. It is aimed at not making a turn faster, but making it more refined and comfortable for the passengers.

The car detects oncoming bends via the use of a stereo camera behind the windshield, where it can register the curvature of the road up to 15 meters. Another feature is the Road Surface Scan, which adjusts the suspension settings when it detects an uneven road surface.

Standard options for the S65 include: 360 degree camera, active park assist, cross-traffic assist, active blind spot assist, among others.

The engine of the S65 AMG Coupe is a 6.0L twin turbo V12 rated at 630PS with a torque rating of 1000Nm. It has a top speed that is electronically limited to 299 km/h. Other advances in engine designs are the use of an aluminum crankcase, forged crankshaft in high-grade alloy steel, an air to water intercooler and an ECO start/stop function.

Power is delivered to the rear wheels via AMG’s “Speedshift Plus 7G-Tronic”. The transmission itself has 3 modes to choose from; Controlled Efficiency (C), Sport (S), and Manual (M).
