All-new BMW 7-Series now available in 740Li and 750Li models

BMW's new-generation flagship sedan has finally arrived in the Philippines after Asian Carmakers Corporation (ACC), the official distributor of BMW cars in the country debuted the 2016 7-Series at the new Shangri-La at the Fort in Bonifacio Global City, Taguig.

Only available as a long wheelbase model dubbed as the G12, it is billed by the automaker as the most advanced model to date with its wide array of new features in comfort, performance and luxury.

“Today, this sixth-generation BMW 7 Series has made yet another breakthrough by introducing new technologies such as carbon core that reduces overall weight by up to 130kg, and a full suite of innovations like Touch Command, Gesture control, Sky Lounge with Panorama Glass Roof, just to name a few,” Maricar Parco, ACC President.

Starting with its chassis, BMW claims a 130kg reduction from its predecessor thanks to its new Carbon Core frame. Derived from the i8 sports hybrid, the frame is comprised of carbon fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP) that is mixed with steel and aluminum. This makes for a rigid and lightweight spaceframe for the flagship sedan.

Over to its front fascia, the 7-Series' dual kidney grill benefits from Active Grill Shutters that reduce drag and improve the car's aerodynamics. The signature headlights, on the other hand, can be had with the optional Laserlight technology. Also first used on the i8, the high beams deliver a maximum range of 600 meters which is double that of traditional LED lights. It also comes standard with BMW's Selective Beam. This feature comes standard on the 750Li and is available on the 740Li as an option.

Moving towards the side, the door handles have been made to integrate with the beltline, creating a clean and swooping effect. Depending on the model chosen, the 740Li will be fitted with 19-inch alloys while the range-topping 750Li gets the bigger 20-inch alloy wheels. Chrome accents adorn the entirety of the sedan as the 2016 7-Seris comes standard with the Design Pure Excellence exterior package. The brightwork can be seen on the car's radiator grill slats, front and rear bumper, trunk trim and greenhouse area.

Stepping inside, a blanket of fine-grain leather covers the interior of the G12 7-Series, along with high-quality materials such as wood grain, piano black and white ivory trims and even metallic accents. A myriad of creature comforts like 4-zone auto climate control, electrically-adjustable front and rear seats with massage function, rear-mounted entertainment system, panoramic glass roof, ambient lighting and an air ionizer comes as standard equipment on the new 7-Series.

For those that want to treat the 7-Series as a lounge, the front passenger seat can be set as footrest, allowing the rear passenger to stretch their legs and relax more. The 750Li even offers a Blu-ray player, allowing passengers to either watch a movie or play video games. Moreover, a Bowers & Wilkins audio system delivers 1,400 watts of audio on the 750Li while the 740Li gets a Harmon Kardon surround sound system.

Over to the 750Li, it gets the bigger 4.4-liter TwinPower Turbo V8 which cranks out 450 PS and 650 Nm of torque. 0 – 100 km/h comes in at a fast 4.7 seconds while fuel economy is rated at 12.5 km/l.
