Refreshed Honda Brio Amaze gets facelift, updated interior
After the reveal of the 2016 Honda Brio at this year’s Indonesian International Motor Show (IIMS), Honda Thailand followed suit with the unveiling of the 2016 Brio Amaze. It now features a sportier and more pronounced exterior design, along with a heavily revised interior and new standard equipment.
Starting with the front fascia, the Brio Amaze now has projector headlights with LED illumination. Also present are the tweaked ‘Solid Wing Face’ grill and new honeycomb-designed lower air intake.
Over to its side, new six-spoke 14-inch alloy wheels provide a fresh look on the car’s wheel wells. It is perhaps the rear section which gets the most apparent change. The taillights get a more sophisticated finish while the trunk lid gets an integrated duckbill spoiler. Completing it all are the new rear bumper and revamped chrome trim on the trunk.
Like the recently updated Brio hatchback, the Brio Amaze also gets the Jazz-inspired interior. The circular aircon vents now get a rectangular shape while the center console has been reworked as well. Available features in the TH-spec 2016 Brio Amaze include: automatic climate control, multifunction steering wheel and an audio system that supports Bluetooth and USB connectivity. Depending on the model, the 2016 Brio Amaze can even come with an engine start/stop button, smart key system and a multi-information display.
Powering the TH-spec Brio is a 1.2-liter SOHC L12 inline-four with i-VTEC. It puts out 90 PS and benefits from the company’s Earth Dreams Technology. Moreover, the engine is Euro-4 compliant and is exclusively mated to a continuously variable transmission (CVT).
In terms of safety, the Brio Amaze has anti-lock brakes (ABS) with electronic brakeforce distribution (EDB), dual SRS airbags and an alarm system.
In Thailand, the 2016 Brio Amaze will be available in the following colors: Crystal Black Pearl, White Tafetta and Lunar Silver Metallic.
