Honda's minivan gains an extra seat with lower price
Last year, Honda unveiled the all-new Odyssey and was now based on the Japanese spec model as opposed to its US-based predecessor. For added practicality, Honda Philippines has unveiled an 8-seat variant of their MPV and now has a lower price.
Now called the Odyssey EX, Honda has taken out most of the chrome detailing and sporty touches seen in the 7-seat version. The Honda Odyssey EX features a different front bumper and a less aggressive front intake and foglight housings. It also rides on smaller 16-inch alloy wheels and loses the LED headlights for halogen units.
Inside, the Ottoman seats make way for a more conventional second row and sees the addition of the eighth seat. The seats are now trimmed in fabric instead of leather but retain the slide and fold capability on the top-spec EX-V Navi model. Despite lesser luxuries, the Odyssey EX retains the seven-inch infotainment screen that includes auxiliary input, Bluetooth audio and phone link, steering wheel controls plus automatic climate control and air-conditioning for second and third row seats.
Honda retained all the safety systems in the EX-V Navi variant for the 8-seat model. The Honda Odyssey EX comes standard with front, side and curtain airbags, traction control, Vehicle Stability Assist and Hill Start Assist. It is also unchanged under the hood meaning the Odyssey is powered by a 2.4 liter i-VTEC engine that produces 175 PS and 226 Nm of torque and shifts via a continuously variable transmission.
As previously mentioned, the Honda Odyssey EX comes at a lower price.
