Clubman All4 aims to deliver an even sportier drive

Mini has revealed the 2016 Clubman All4 featuring a new all-wheel drive system which is said to deliver an even sportier yet particularly supreme type of driving fun.

Essentially, the vehicle is the all-wheel drive variant of the current Clubman that was introduced last June 2015. The 2016 Clubman All4 is equipped with Mini’s power transmission system that consists of a “power take-off bevel gear on the front axle differential, a dual-section propeller shaft and a rear axle differential with an electrohydraulically controlled hang-on clutch.”

Mini adds that the vehicle’s all-wheel drive system is interconnected with the Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) system which enables distribution of torque between the front and rear wheels. The DSC also distributes torque to the wheels that need it most. In this way, the automaker said the DSC improves traction and driving stability as well as enhances the Clubman All4’s acceleration and cornering.

In terms of power, the 2016 Clubman All4 is available with two engines. The first is the 1.5-liter TwinPower Turbo three-cylinder engine that delivers 136 PS and 219 Nm of torque.  The engine can be mated to a six-speed manual or an eight-speed automatic. The other engine option is the 2.0-liter TwinPower Turbo four-cylinder that generates 192 PS and 280 Nm of torque. The engine is connected to a six-speed manual or an eight-speed automatic gearbox.
