Lexus Manila reveals 2017 IS 350, gets subtle exterior, interior tweaks
Lexus Manila Inc.'s stake in the premium D-segment sedan has officially received its mid-cycle refresh. First revealed at the 2016 Beijing International Auto Exhibition, the third-generation IS gets a reworked exterior, new wheel designs and an improved cabin finish.
Beginning with the exterior, Lexus gave the front fascia of the IS subtle tweaks to conform with their current design theme. It gets restyled headlights, a more aggressive front bumper with bigger air intakes and L-shaped LED daytime running lights (DRLs) that resemble the ones used on the RC coupe. All that is topped by a new grill which seamlessly blends with the hood.
Lexus' signature F-Sport Spindle Grill now features a 3-dimensional 'F-mesh' pattern. It's finished in Jet Black Metallic and even comes with brake ducts that improve the car's overall aerodynamic properties.
New ten-spoke 17-inch alloy wheels also make their way in the updated IS (F-sport models get twin five-spoke alloy wheels), along with what Lexus calls 'triple-layered' L-shaped LED taillights. Completing the exterior revisions are the new rectangular exhaust pipe finishers finished in chrome.
Apart from the revised exterior design, Lexus also introduced new paint finishes for the 2017 IS. These are Deep Blue Mica and Graphite Black Glass Flake.
Inside, the 2017 IS F-Sport now has a bigger multimedia display. From 7-inches, it now measures 10.3-inches to deliver a clearer image. Non F-Sport models, however will still have the previous 7-inch screen. The tachometer, speedometer and signature clock on the dashboard have been tweaked as well for the mid-cycle update.
Meanwhile, a new 'Enter' button has been placed beside the Remote Touch Interface (RTI) for better ergonomics. Finally, the audio and climate control panels on the center dash have been repositioned to fit with the knee bolsters.
There is also a new interior color available for the IS, Chateau. This new palette replaces Moonstone and Ivory and features a lighter shade of gray.
Powering all variants of the 2017 IS 350 will still be the 3.5-liter V6 mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission. It cranks out 312 PS at 6,400 rpm along with 375 Nm of torque at 4,800 rpm.
2017 Lexus IS pricing:
IS 350 – PhP 2,668,000
IS 350 F- Sport – PhP 3,198,000
