Lexus' refreshed sports sedan set to make local debut
After making its official debut at the 2016 Beijing International Auto Exhibition, the 2017 Lexus IS will soon be making its Philippine debut. Bearing subtle exterior and interior revisions, Lexus said that the 2017 IS is set to deliver a bolder and sportier sedan while retaining the brand's distinct luxury.
Beginning with the exterior, the front fascia of the 2017 IS gets a slight redesign. The headlights now have a more aggressive finish while the LED daytime running lights (DRLs) now resemble the ones used on the RC coupe.
The F-Sport variant's grill, on the other hand, gets a 3-dimensional F-mesh pattern and is finished in Jet Black Metallic. Beyond that, the grill also gains functional brake ducts that improves the car's aerodynamic properties according to Lexus.
The 2017 IS will also get updated ten-spoke 17-inch alloy wheels that will be available in new bright machine finishes, retouched LED taillights, rectangular chrome exhaust pipes and two new paint finishes: Deep Blue Mica and Black Glass Flake.
Like the exterior, the cabin relatively carries over apart from some key updates. For starters, it has a larger 10-inch infotainment screen, replacing the older 7-inch display. The center stack audio and climate controls have been repositioned as well to provide a seamless look with the knee bolsters. Also, the Remote Touch Interface (RTI) now has an 'Enter' button for better ergonomics.
New interior colors also make their way inside the 2017 IS including: Nuance Black and Noble Brown. Rounding off the interior revamp are the new cup holders and a large leather wrapped palmrest for the RTI.
Powering the 2017 Lexus IS is the carried-over 3.5-liter V6. It puts out 316 PS at 6,400 rpm along with 375 Nm of torque at 4,800 rpm. Both the standard 350 and 350 F-Sport are mated to an 8-speed automatic gearbox.
