Will first undergo training with the LTO
After expressing their intention to assist in the full implementation of Republic Act (RA) 10586 or the ‘Anti-Drunk and Drugged Driving Act of 2013,’ the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) has hand-picked the 92 traffic enforcers assigned to the Land Transportation Office (LTO) campaign against the driving under the influence of alcohol.
These 92 traffic enforcers will first go through the necessary training with the LTO in order to be able to handle cases involving RA 10586 and the proper handling of the breath analyzers (breathalyzers), which have been calibrated by the Department of Health (DOH).
MMDA Assistant General Manager for Operations Atty. Emerson Carlos has said that the LTO should provide the breathalyzers that will be used by the 92 MMDA personnel if and when a suspected driver fails a sobriety test.
The breathalyzer prints out three copies of the test, one of the arresting officer, another for the driver and the third will be for official use.
