More functional than ever with five doors and 1,220 liters of luggage capacity
Audi presents the new A3 Sportback, a compact five-door model and the third-generation Audi S3.
Audi made the new A3 Sportback longer but leaner. Its wheelbase now measures 58mm longer than the previous model and 35mm longer than the three-door version but is 90kg lighter than the model it replaced due to Audi's lightweight manufacturing technologies.
Thanks to the 58 millimeters longer wheelbase, the A3 Sportback offers ample rear seat space and easy access for three adults and also offers several millimeters more head and leg room than its predecessor. The luggage compartment can pack up to 380 liters of space in the basic configuration and can expand up to 1,220 liters with the seats folded down.
Audi is initially offering the new A3 Sportback with a choice of a 1.6 liter TDI engine and a 1.4 liter or 1.8 liter TFSI engines mated to either a six-speed manual transmission gearbox with an option for S-tronic. Two diesel engines and one gasoline unit is slated to follow suit. They combine multiple technologies to maximize its efficiency like the – direct injection, turbocharging, innovative thermal management and the start-stop system. Fuel consumption has been reduced on average by around 10 percent compared with the previous model.
Meanwhile, Audi is proud to announce that the third-generation Audi S3 is developed from the ground up. Its 2-liter, four-cylinder TFSI engine delivers 300hp and has a constant 380 Nm of torque to the crankshaft between 1,800 and 5,500 rpm. It can sprint from 0 to 100km/h in just 5.4 seconds on its six-speed manual transmission gearbox and 5.1 seconds with the S tronic.
Both the S3 and the A3 Sportback is expected to reach Audi dealerships worldwide early next year.
