Spark-based concepts make global debut at 2016 Auto Expo India
Chevrolet is looking to expand their compact lineup in India after the company debuted two concepts at the 2016 Auto Expo India. Called the Beat Activ and Essentia concepts, both concept cars feature sleek exterior styling, along with a funky interior.
Starting with the Beat Activ, the green-colored concept has an uncanny resemblance with the 2015 Spark that debuted during last year's New York Auto Show. It gets tapered headlights, a 'smiling' grill and honeycomb-inspired foglamps. The side gets plastic body cladding, roof rails, body graphics and distinct alloy wheels.
The rear, on the other hand, also gets similar aesthetics from the Spark courtesy of LED taillights, roof-mounted spoiler and bumper-mounted diffuser.
Aboard the Beat Activ, shades of black, gray and green cover the cabin. In terms of equipment, it has a leather-wrapped multifunction steering wheel, touchscreen audio system that supports MyLink, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and a motorcycle-inspired instrument panel that appears to have been derived from the Trax.
Over to the Essentia concept, the notchback sedan also gets the familiar front end but has better defined wheel arches and character lines on the side. The rear gets a conservative design with its squared taillights and simple-looking bumper.
The cabin is a stark contrast however as it gets brown leather seats, metal accents on the dashboard and gear shifter, and a multifunction steering wheel. Completing it all is the same touchscreen audio system and the motorcycle-inspired instrument panel.
Engine specifications weren't detailed but, the company did state it gets an array of safety features including: anti-lock brakes (ABS), airbags and a reverse camera.
