Ford PH honors the country's automotive media journalists in the 15th Henry Ford Awards

The 15th year of Ford Philippines' Henry Ford Awards (HFA) saw AutoIndustriya.com take home 2 awards from the annual award show.

News editor Martin Aguilar won first runner-up under the Automotive Online Feature with his story 'Putol: The one handed mechanic of Evangelista'. Editor-In-Chief Vince Pornelos, on the other hand, bagged the best Automotive Road Safety Feature award with 'Urban Flood Driving Survival Guide'.

The Henry Ford Awards, as held by Ford Philippines every year, gives recognition to the country's automotive media professionals for their contributions in strengthening public awareness of the automotive industry in the country.

Out of the total 230 entries for this year (the highest number of entries on record), only 14 nabbed the major awards which consisted of nine regular categories and 5 special categories.

“Our annual Henry Ford Awards does not only set the caliber for our media friends to hone their craft, but also builds an esteemed standard of recognition that honors honest, credible and professional journalists who have helped shape the motoring industry to what it is today,” said Josep Ayllon, Assistance Vice President for Communications, Ford Philippines.

Winners present during the 15th Henry Ford Awards

Experts from the academe and corporate world made up the panel of judges that went through the two-phase process.

Phase one judges consisted of five representatives from the academe: Dr. Francine Racho (Vice Dean, School of Communications, University of the Asia and the Pacific), Dr. Severino Sarmenta, Jr. (Chair, Department of Communication, Ateneo de Manila University), Dr. Elena Pernia (Dean, College of Mass Communications, University of the Philippines) and Gary Mariano (Chair, Department of Communication, De La Salle University-Manila).

Phase two judges, on the other hand, comrpised of Marla Alvarez (Regional Manager, Corporate Responsibility & Inclusion for Asia Pacific, Thomson Reuters), Simone Orendain (President, Foreign Correspondents Association of the Philippines), Luchi Cruz-Valdes (News Chief, Bloomberg TV Philippines, News5) and Kay Hart (Director, Advanced Consumer Experience Marketing for Asia Pacific, Ford Motor Company).

HFA also sought out the help of special judges in their respective fields such as Francisco Guerrero (Travel and lifestyle photographer, Executive Editor of GRID Magazine), Raz dela Torre (Film and TV Director), Jayvee Fernandez (Social Media Head, Manila Bulletin, Blogger, ABuggedlife.com), and Richmond Walker (Executive Creative Director, Ogilvy & Mather).
