Toyota spruces up the Yaris with TRD equipment
Toyota's B-segment hatchback gets a makeover for this year's Bangkok Internationa Motor Show after the company revealed the Yaris TRD Sportivo ahead of its scheduled debut. Billed as a new variant, the Yaris TRD Sportivo gets new exterior equipment, two-tone interior theme and a new infotainment system.
Starting with its front fascia, the grill is now finished in black while a silver front lip spoiler adorns the front bumper. In addition, the headlights also get integrated daytime running lights (DRLs).
Over to its side, the silver treatment also makes its way towards the side skirts and roof rails. Also seen are TRD black alloy wheels and blacked-out wheel arches and mudguards. The rear section relatively remains the same apart from the addition of the silver rear lip spoiler and 'TRD Sportivo' badging.
Aboard the 5-door hatchback, the interior is predominantly covered in hues of black and orange. The seats are upholstered in leather while additional 'TRD Sportivo' badging was also used inside the car. For the TH-spec Yaris TRD Sportivo, the 1-DIN head unit has been replaced with a 2-DIN seven-inch touchscreen infotainment system. It supports CD, DVD, SD card and Bluetooth functions, as well as a monitor for the reverse camera.
Under the hood, the TH-spec Yaris is still driven by the 1.2-liter 3NR-FE inline-four that is mated to a CVT. Benefitting from Dual VVT-i, the engine puts out 86 PS at 6,000 rpm along with a torque pull of 108 Nm at 4,000 rpm.
It will officially be making its debut at the 37th Bangkok International Motor Show on March 23, 2016.
