BMW overload

The BMW Car Club of the Philippines (BMWCCP) had its first meeting on the 28th of October in 2001, where a group of five hardcore BMW enthusiasts decided to form a car club for their favorite car brand. From its humble beginnings the club now has more than one hundred members today. They have since been recognized by BMW Group Philippines and the International Council of BMW Clubs (under BMW AG); it maintains that it is still the only BMW club recognized by both. The club's mission is to promote interest in motoring, touring activities, and to encourage safe skillful driving classes, with no profit motives.

The BMWCCP hosts an annual show and shine competition between members, the club recently held its Bimmerfest at the Greenhills Promenade Parking Lot which was participated by more than thirty BMW cars from the 80's to the current models. Aside from the car show, there was a display of different auto accessories from Alpine, Bilstein, H&R, and Momo. A Club Photo Contest sponsored by YKL was also held in conjunction with the show where BMWCCP members got to show off their best shots.

The cars were categorized into the following: Heritage, Modern, and Special. Other categories were: Interior, Exterior, Sounds, Engine Display, and People's Choice. Taking home the coveted 2008 Bimmerfest Best in Show award was the E34 Alpina B10 , which also took home the Best Interior Award. Winners in the car classes were: the E34 535i of sneekens (Heritage); E39 523i of polocap (Modern), which also won the Best Engine Display and People's Choice awards; E46 M3 of thealbert (Special). Other awards went to: E34 525i of defroa (Exterior); E46 325i of frag (Sounds). Hall of Fame Inductee was the Z4 of roy b.

The major sponsors for the event were Bridgestone Tires, Petron, United Insurance, and Klassik Cars BMW was present to show the latest BMW models as well as provide free maintenance checkups for BMW owners. Present were aftermarket companies including Alpine, Aguila Autoglass, Castrol, Bilstein, H&R, Momo, and Philips. Also supporting the event were AutoIndustriya.com, C! Magazine, Hobbiestock Collectibles, Victor Hardware, Pepsi, Big Berts Auto Detailers, YKL, and Chef Tony's Popcorn (who gave away free popcorn).
