APEC leaders to use a fleet of BMWs during council
The Philippine government has chosen Asian Carmakers Corporation (ACC), the official importer and distributor of BMW in the Philippines, as their partner in transporting world leaders and dignitaries who will visit the country to participate in the upcoming Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation 2015 National Organizing Council (APEC 2015 NOC).
Malacañang's Kalayaan grounds was the venue of the ceremonial turnover graced by Executive Secretary Paquito Ochoa, Jr., Foreign Affairs Secretary Albert del Rosario, APEC 2015 NOC Director General Marciano Paynor Jr., and ACC President Maricar Parco.
This cooperation between the public and private sector is a strong showing of the country’s continuing economic development, which is indicative of the region’s progress as well.
"May this ceremony serve as a reminder of our partnership, one which is strongly committed to becoming a driving force in 'Building Inclusive Economies, Building a Better World’," said Ochoa.
BMW was officially named as APEC’s premium mobility partner in 2014 after a memorandum of agreement was signed by the government and the brand.
As the official premium mobility partner of the APEC Council, ACC will provide more than 200 units of the BMW 7 Series Long-Wheelbase Sedan and BMW 5 Series Sedan and Gran Turismo for use by APEC leaders and other dignitaries.
An initial 25 units will be turned over to the government this month while the next batch will be deployed to Boracay on May 23 to 24 for the Ministers Responsible for Trade meeting. After the council ends in November, all units will be sold to the public.
The partnership with APEC was made official through the signing of a memorandum of agreement between the government and BMW in May 2014.
