Approximately 1.3 million vehicles affected worldwide

In order to carry out a quality measure, BMW is recalling 1.3 million units of the previous generation BMW 5 and 6 Series, built between 2003 and 2010 for repair at the authorized dealers.

The reason for the recall is the battery cable cover under the hood of these vehicles may be incorrectly mounted and can result in a malfunction on the car's electrical system and may cause the vehicle failing to start or in some remote cases, could cause charring and start a fire.

BMW states that they are not yet aware of any accidents or injury resulting from this fault.

Owners of the affected vehicles will be notified in writing as soon as possible and will be called out for a quick service(free of charge), lasting approximately 30 minutes at their respective BMW dealer.
