Post-Bangle Grand TourerIn an odd twist, BMW has launched the latest generation of its 6-Series Coupe several months after the launch of the new gen 6-Series Convertible. The new 6-Series coupe marks BMW's re-entry into the grand tourer market, alongside its peers such as the Audi A5 and the E-Class Coupe.
The new BMW 6-Series Coupe features the latest in BMW's post-Bangle design. The new 2+2 seems to be sleeker than the previous, more bulbous model while still retaining many of BMW's design traits such as the kidney grille. The 6-Series has grown by 74mm in length with a 75mm longer wheelbase, while the 39mm increase width subsequent improvement in track should further improve stability at speed.
At the heart of the new 6-Series is BMW's new TwinPower Turbo technology with petrol direct injection, allowing the new 6-Series power outputs of up to 407 horsepower in the 650i Coupe and 320 hp in the 640i Coupe. Both engines are mated with an 8-speed automatic gearbox.
The new BMW 6-Series Coupe will be built alongside the new BMW 6-Series Convertible at the Dingolfing plant; BMW Group's largest production plant that also produces the BMW 7-Series and BMW 5-Series.
