Concept explores Cadillac vision for luxury and expanding range

Cadillac revealed the grand coupe Elmiraj Concept on August 16, 2013. The car embodies the brand’s vision of pleasurable driving through its expanding lineup of luxury cars. It is a present-day ode to the classic design of grand coupes that were produced in the 1950s and 1960s.

The four-seat coupe measures to 205 inches (5207 mm) long and powered by a 4.5 liter twin turbocharged V8 with 507 PS of power and 678 Nm of torque. The high engine output is transmitted 22-inch aluminum wheels supported by the stopping power of large ceramic brakes with Cadillac monoblock calipers.

The Elmiraj shares its chassis and structural elements with another ongoing Cadillac project bound for future production. Its 2+2 layout also features high-performance seats designed for spirited driving and luxury accommodation. The design expands the brand’s commitment to lightweight rear wheel drive performance fused with the elegance associated with luxury cars.

Interior features also include transparent analog tachometer and speedometer. Behind the two gauges is a high resolution wide screen display of driver information and feed from a front-mounted camera.  Also equipped is a concealable 10-inch touchscreen inside the instrument panel for navigation and connectivity.

The car was created in General Motors’ advanced design studio in North Hollywood, California under Frank Saucedo, and was hand-built by in-house craftsmen in Michigan.
