Expect flyover and underpass constructions in Cebu

Even far south of Metro Manila citizens are feeling the crunch of traffic and this early in the year, local government units are making changes in order to reduce vehicle congestion.

Cebu City is set to implement several major infrastructure projects this year including an underpass on the Mambaling Access Road exit of the South Road Properties, some 20 flyovers in major intersections in the city and the Php 10.6-billion Cebu Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) project.

The Mambaling Access Road exit aims to give commuters from the south easier access to downtown Cebu.

At least Php 1.3 billion is needed to acquire road right-of-way lots.

Meanwhile, Bacolod City is set to hire an additional 110 traffic enforcers to to bring the total number to 400.

This to combat traffic caused by 500 new vehicles the city sees every month or 6,000 units per year.

The news hires are currently undergoing a five-day seminar before graduating on January 8, 2017.
