BMW is set to launch a new concept car equipped with the company's Intelligent Laserlight and organic light-emitting diodes (OLED) at the 2015 Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas happening from January 6 to 9.
As of the moment, details regarding BMW's new concept car are sketchy. However, the German automaker did confirm that it will feature a “kind of lighting innovations we can expect in the future, while at the same time reinforcing its leadership position in the field of lighting technology.”
With this, BMW plans to introduce its improved Laserlight technology at the 2015 CES. The company's Laserlight technology made its production car debut in the BMW i8 which expands the range of conventional headlights up to 600 meters.
The automaker says their improved Laserlight technology is now connected to cameras, sensors and features driver assistance systems. BMW claims that the Intelligent Laserlight technology could open up a “prospect of numerous new functions in the future.”
Aside from the Intelligent Laserlight, BMW has confirmed that the new concept will feature the OLED technology. According to BMW, the OLED are very thin elements at just 1.4 millimeters thick allowing new possibilities for taillight design.
The full details regarding BMW's new concept as well as its Intelligent Laserlight and OLED technology will be revealed during the 2015 CES.
