Following a teaser of the concept car a few days ago, Mercedes-Benz recently took the wraps off of the F 015 Luxury Motion Concept, a self-driving luxury vehicle that is the company's answer to the changing automobile as not only a means of transportation but as private retreat as well.

The sleek-looking concept vehicle is unlike any Mercedes-Benz production cars. Dimension-wise it measures 5,220mm in length, 2,018mm wide and 1,524mm in height. It has a generous wheelbase that measures 3,610mm and since it has no B-Pillars, entry into the cabin is a breeze. In making entry into the car easier, the F 015 makes use of doors that open at a 90-degree angle.

The highlight of the F 015 besides being an autonomous vehicle is its variable seating system that consist of four rotating lounge chairs that enables face to face seating configuration. When alighting from the car, the electrically-powered seats will swing outwards by 30-degrees as soon as the doors are opened.

Exchange of information is continuously fed through the car itself and among its passengers. Providing the necessary display are six screens that have been integrated onto the car's instrument panel and at the rear and side panels. The unique placement of the screens enables the interior of the car to turn into a digital arena according to Mercedes-Benz. Passengers can manipulate with the screens by using hand-gestures, eye-tracking, or by touchscreen function.

“Already two years ago, with the S 500 INTELLIGENT DRIVE we showed on the historical route Bertha-Benz took in 1888 that we have the technology which makes autonomous driving reality in everyday traffic. We have a master plan in place to take the big leap required getting from technically feasible to commercially viable. The F 015 Luxury in Motion demonstrates where this may take us,” said Dr. Dieter Zetsche, Chairman of Daimler AG.
