Official specs, pricing revealed
Chevrolet previewed their replacement for the Sonic Sedan during this year's Manila International Auto Show. Called the Sail, it is Chevrolet's new entry in the B-Segment sedan market. According to TCCI, their newest sedan boasts of smart and convenient features, stylish design, spacious interior, outstanding ride, and a host of safety features.
The Chevrolet Sail is available in three variants, namely the 1.3 LT M/T, 1.5 LT A/T and range topping 1.5 LTZ A/T. One difference between the car displayed during MIAS and the production version are a different set of 16-inch alloy wheels with a gunmetal finish, exclusive to the LTZ. The rest of the car carries over unchanged from the preview. The Sail sports Chevrolet's signature dual-port grill and paired with wraparound halogen headlights, sleek bumper and circular foglights. The rear, on the other hand, gets large taillights, integrated trunk spoiler, Sail badging and a muscular rear bumper. LTZ models feature a power sunroof.
Inside, the 1.5 LTZ A/T comes standard with a 9-inch color display that features smartphone mirroring, natural voice recognition, and Bluetooth streaming audio. Also, its infotainment system has built-in applications such Waze and Spotify and comes with Google Play Store for Android. In addition, the Sail also comes with steering wheel mounted audio controls, a USB port and power outlet.
As their trim levels show, the Sail is available with a 1.3 liter or 1.5 liter engine, both with variable valve timing. The 1.3 liter engine puts out 100 PS and 127 Nm of torque. With a more advanced variable valve timing called D-VVT, the 1.5 liter Sail's power is rated at 109 PS and 141 Nm of torque. The lone 1.3 liter model is paired with a 5-speed manual while both 1.5 liter variants get a 4-speed automatic with manual mode.
As for safety, the Sail is equipped with Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD), driver and passenger airbags, and ISOFIX mounts for child seats. Chevrolet adds that the Sail was constructed with the use of high-tensile steel for a more rigid body.
