Slope protection has collapsed due to heavy rains

If you’re headed to Batangas this weekend, particularly Lemery and surrounding areas, as early as now you may want to plot your route or consult Waze because a section of Diokno Highway leading to Lemery will be closed to all vehicular traffic.

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has announced that the portion between KM0072+560 to KM0072+460 of Diokno Highway (formerly known as Tagaytay-Junction–Calaca-Lemery Road) in Barangay Tamayo, Calaca, Batangas has sustained ‘road slip and collapsed slope protection following continuous heavy rains in the area.’

Vehicles headed to Lemery can take the Tagaytay-Nasugbu Road or the Palico-Balayan-Batangas City Road.

Light vehicles can take Evercrest in Sitio Batulao, Kaylaway, Nasugbu, Batangas going to Matala-Cahil-Loma-Dacanlao Road, Calaca, Batangas.

The DPWH has already installed the proper warning signs in order to advise drivers about the road condition and to further ensure the safety of motorists, the agency has also coordinated with the Provincial Disaster-Risk Reduction and Management Council (PDRRMC) and local government units involved.
