Projected finish will be mid-2016 at the earliest
The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has announced that it will start construction of two major projects to alleviate traffic on EDSA this year.
Called the Metro Manila Interchange Construction Project Phase VI, the first project sees the creation of a two-level interchange: one level services vehicles along EDSA-North Avenue beginning at the end of the Quezon Avenue flyover and ending at Dario Bridge in Muñoz, and the other level caters to vehicles from Mindanao Avenue starting from Mindanao Avenue and ending on Congressional Avenue.
This project’s cost estimate is at P4.01 billion.
The second project is a P1.27 billion, 880-meter tunnel located in Makati that connects Paseo De Roxas to Gil Puyat Avenue.
Deadline for both projects is mid-2016 at the earliest or the first quarter of 2017 at the latest.
"The intention is to improve or enhance traffic mobility not only in Metro Manila including nearby provinces," said DPWH-National Capital Region regional director Reynaldo Tagudando.
