Roadways to be removed of construction barriers and equipment
In anticipation of the increase of motorists heading to provinces in observance of All Saints' Day and All Souls' Day, the Department of Public Works and Highway (DPWH) has started to remove construction barriers and equipment along major arterial roads to provide better road space for motorists.
“Contractors with on-going projects have to suspend further excavation or pavement removal activities and shall begin with the clearing of construction barriers including removal of idle equipment directly on site that may obstruct and affect traffic flow”, said Rogelio L. Singson, Secretary of the DPWH.
The DPWH also halted all future road projects for the duration of All Saints' Day/All Souls' Day and stated that all District Engineers coordinate with the Project Engineers of the Unified Project Management Office in order for the contractors and implementing project/s to be rescheduled.
In addition, the DPWH will have a team that will be present on strategic locations to help guide the public in traveling from October 30 – November 3, 2014 under the 'Lakbay Alalay' program. Closely coordinating with the DPWH will be the Land Transportation Office (LTO), Philippine National Police (PNP) and local government units (LGUs).
