Urges motorists to check the app for road works updates
If it's updates regarding road reblocking or repairs from the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), motorists can now say that they literally have information right at their fingertips.
The agency has decided to use the popular traffic and navigation app Waze to send announcement of road works and other related projects to motorists taking the streets of Metro Manila.
Data regarding ‘upgrading, rehabilitation/repair and improvement works’ will be sent to the Philippine Waze Champs or Senior Editors for uploading into the app for motorists to see in real time.
When the trial run begins, roads undergoing maintenance will be labeled as ‘DPWH RD WORKS’ or ‘CLOSED’ on the road name while the app automatically searches and suggests alternative routes to take.
“We are extremely excited to partner with the local Waze community to help motorists and commuters plan their trip whenever the DPWH has on-going road repair and maintenance works initially in the National Capital Region”, said DPWH Secretary Rogelio L. Singson.
The DPWH plans to incorporate nationwide road advisories into Waze in the near future.
