Five stars given to Lexus IS 300h, Mazda 6, and Toyota Corolla
The safety rating organization Euro New Car Assessment Programme has released its latest batch of reviews for 2013. Euro NCAP has already listed 16 vehicles for this year’s batch. So far the list of the five-star mark recipients for this year includes the following:
Lexus IS 300h
Toyota Corolla (European version)
The locally available Mitsubishi Mirage managed to get 4 stars.
Subject vehicles are put into a series of tests where the system assigns points out of 100% in relation adult occupant protection, child occupant protection, pedestrian protection, and safety assist. The tests include frontal impact, car to car side impact, pole side impact, and whiplash test among others.
Euro NCAP is an independent organization established in 1997 that administers crash-tests and provides motorists safety assessments of cars sold in Europe. While not all vehicles available in the Philippines are sold in Europe and vice versa, this standard may help local motorists choose a potentially safe vehicle for their use.
