Likely to be called 500X, and will share platform with small Jeep vehicle
Fiat has already confirmed that it will soon introduce a new member to its Fiat 500 model lineup. Joining the 500 hatchback, 500C convertible, and the 500L, this new crossover model is likely to be called 500X.
The new Fiat crossover will replace the Fiat Sedici, and become the fourth variant in the Fiat 500 range. The announcement was made during the launch of the new Fiat 500L and said that the new model will be a crossover model to take on the MINI Countryman and the Nissan Juke.
It will share Fiat’s small vehicle platform with the Fiat Punto and the 500L but will have a slightly longer wheelbase.
Fiat also added that, while the 500L would appeal more to women, the crossover was expected to have more appeal for men.
Production of the crossover is expected to begin at Fiat’s plant in Mirafiori, Italy in December 2013.
