Custom-inspired short wheelbase F-150 to get EcoBoost engine
Ford has just revealed its 2014 F-150 Tremor as the brand's first EcoBoost powered sport truck. The new variant aims to give performance truck enthusiasts V8 power with V6 economy.
The distinct exterior of the new truck is highlighted by the custom-inspired FX Appearance Package featuring matte black accents, stylish bodyside graphics, black badges with red lettering, and exclusive 20-inch wheels in finished in matte black.
“The new Tremor gives F-150 customers yet another option to drive a highly capable, distinctive performance truck with features typically found only in the aftermarket,” said Brian Bell, F-150 product marketing manager.
The interior features a flow-through center console and bucket seats clad with black leather and red accent piping with Alcantara inserts. Brush metal accents and a red-stitched steering wheel further add to the custom performance tuner feel. Connectivity comes with the MyFord Touch powered by SYNC with the physical interface centrally located and optimized to accommodate truck users who may be wearing work gloves.
Under the hood is a 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 engine with twin independent variable camshaft timing capable of 370 PS @ 5000 rpm and 569 Nm of torque @ 2500 rpm. All variants will get an electronic locking rear differential as standard to improve takeoff traction. A launch-optimized 4.10 final drive has also been installed to provide fast acceleration.
The Tremor also gets a floor shifter and HID headlamps. It is based on a short-wheelbase, regular-cab F-150 and will go on sale beginning fall of 2013.
