EcoBoost power marks return of Escape
Ford Philippines has just launched the all-new Ford Escape at an event in Makati City as well as the larger Explorer with the far more powerful EcoBoost V6 engine. The new models will reaffirm Ford's challenge into the compact and large crossover segments.
Next generation Ford Escape
After a preview at the 2014 Manila International Auto Show, Ford has finally made the all-new Escape available to customers after the previous model was discontinued following the closure of the Ford plant in Santa Rosa, Laguna.
The new generation Escape is a CBU from the United States and features Ford's latest design language both inside and out.
“We are excited to launch the all-new Escape, which further expands our unmatched lineup of SUVs and gives Filipino customers even more choice. This premium SUV features an array of smart and safe technologies, style and capability, and terrific fuel efficiency,” said Kay Hart, managing director, Ford Philippines.
Advanced technology are the highlights of the 2015 Ford Escape, as the crossover comes with Active Park Assist (automated parallel parking), a smart key with push button ignition, Ford SYNC, MyFord Touch, 6 airbags, a Blind Spot Information System (BLIS), among others.
The 2015 Escape arrives with a pair of engines: a 1.6 liter DOHC 16-valve Inline-4 and a 2.0L DOHC 16-valve Inline-4. Both engines are of the EcoBoost variety, meaning they get turbochargers, intercoolers and direct injection. The 1.6L makes 178 PS at 5700 rpm with 249 Nm of torque at 2500 rpm while the 2.0L makes 240 PS at 5500 rpm and 366 Nm at 3000 rpm.
The 2015 Ford Escape will come in two variants: the 2015 Escape 1.6L 4x2 SE and the 2015 Escape 2.0L 4x4 Titanium. The Escape SE can be had in Ingot Silver, Oxford White and Tuxedo Black, all of which get charcoal black interiors. The top-spec 2.0L Titanium can come in White Platinum, Magnetic Metallic and Tuxedo Black, all of which are also paired with charcoal black interiors. The Titanium can also be chosen in Sunset Red with a Medium Light Stone Interior.
Ford says that the customer deliveries of the Escape will commence in January 2015.

2015 Ford Explorer Sport
Come November, Ford will offer the 2015 Ford Explorer Sport, the new range-topping variant of their hot-selling large crossover utility vehicle.
The Explorer Sport is an update of the original Explorer that Ford Philippines launched in 2011, but this one gets updated styling to distinguish it above the now-standard variants. The Explorer Sport features design tweaks such as black sporty touches all over (i.e. grill, Explorer badge), 20 inch aluminum wheels, among others. Charcoal black interiors are standard.
For equipment, the Explorer Sport comes with Sony premium audio, MyFord Touch, Ford SYNC, DVD playback with headrest monitors, Adaptive Cruise Control, Collision Warning, Speed Controls, a Blind Spot Information System, a Terrain Management System, numerous airbags and even inflatable rear seatbelts.
At the heart of the 2015 Ford Explorer Sport is a twin-turbocharged 3.5 liter EcoBoost V6 that makes an mass-moving 365 PS of power at 5500 rpm and 475 Nm of torque at 3000 rpm. A 6-speed all-wheel drive transmission takes care of transferring the Explorer Sport's power to the road.
The 2015 Explorer Sport can be had in Tuxedo Black, White Platinum or Magnetic Metallic.
