DTM-inspired Mercedes-Benz C63 Coupe Edition 1 revealed ahead of Frankfurt reveal
Apart from revealing their new DTM car for the 2016 season, Mercedes-Benz has also taken the digital wraps off of the C63 Coupe Edition 1. Scheduled to make its official global debut at this year's Frankfurt Motor Show, the special edition C63 reflects the racing pedigree of their new DTM car and will be available in two exterior designs.
First up is the S-Model that features a matte Magno Selenite Gray exterior finish that is accented by yellow sport stripes which can be seen on the hood, roof, trunk lid and side profile of the coupe. It has a staggered wheel arrangement, with the front axle sporting 19-inch 5-double spoke alloys wrapped in Michelin 255/35 tires while the rear axle gets 20-inch alloys fitted with wider 285/30 tires.
Sitting behind the wheels are high-performance ceramic disc brakes that deliver lightweight yet powerful stopping power.
The standard Coupe Edition 1 on the other hand has what the company calls a 'restrained' look. The body is still finished in the same Magno Selenite Gray but its sports stripes are painted in Graphite Gray. It also has the same staggered wheel arrangement and size but has cross-spoke design alloys. The high-performance ceramic braking system and Michelin sport tires will only be available as optional extras however.
Available as an optional extra is the AMG Aerodynamics Package that equips the coupe with a large front spoiler, side skirts, and rear diffuser that are all painted in high gloss black.
Aboard, Mercedes-Benz opted to have the Coupe Edition 1 exude a 'genuine racing feel'. The AMG Performance seats are wrapped in Nappa leather and features yellow contrast stitching in a diamond pattern. The yellow stitching was also applied to the door panels, arm rests, steering wheel trim and instrument cluster.
Finishing the interior equipment is a flat-bottomed steering wheel with Dinamica microfiber wrapping and the center console finished in matte carbon.
Providing the necessary grunt is the AMG 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 that is available in two versions, 476 PS or 510 PS. Other performance upgrades that come as standard on the C63 Coupe Edition 1 include: AMG Ride Control with electronically-controlled shock absorbers, AMG Dynamic Select transmission modes and a rear-axle limited slip differential.
