Hints on Alfa Romeo's future sports coupe
Alfa Romeo together with the Eurpoean Design Institute(IED) of Turin will be presenting the Alfa Romeo Gloria Concept at the 83rd Geneva Motor Show for its world premiere.
The 20 IED students from the Master program in Transportation Design was tasked to independently interpret a new Alfa Romeo Saloon after being briefed about the brand's historic collection by the Alfa Romeo Style Center.
The latest concept car from Alfa Romeo represents the brand's sporty nature as well as a design that appeals to international audiences to bring the beauty of the Italian Design into the wider world specifically to the American and Asian markets.
With a wheelbase of 2,900mm and a dimension measuring 4,700mm long, 1,920mm wide, and 1,320mm high, the Gloria is considered as a sports saloon by the brand and will be powered by either a V6 or a V8 twin-turbo engine. One of the highlights of the concept is the bonnet of the car that resembles the Alfa Romeo shield while the leather strips on it resembles the leather straps used to secure luggage compartments from the brand's historic cars.
"During development, we commented, discussed and guided the projects in order to get the most from their spontaneous expressions of creativity. The result was stimulating and marked by professional and creative excellence." states Lorenzo Ramaciotti, Head of Fiat & Chrysler Design.
