Great Wall reaches new markets

All over the world, Great Wall cars from China are now making their mark on various car markets and the activities associated with their presence have been proceeding at a frenetic pace.

For instance, in Chile, Australia and South Africa sales of Great Wall models such as the Haval and Florid are exceeding those of their rivals from established brands. Great Wall has also launched the Wingle and passengers cars in Jordan, while a showroom opened recently in Algeria. KD assembly plants are also now being operated with local partners in Russia, Indonesia, Iran, Vietnam and Egypt.

In keeping with the recovery of the global economy, Great Wall Motors' export volume of overseas production bases and sales service networks in 2010 have reached 30,000 units, while export quantity and export value increased by 51 and 66 percent, respectively, compared to last year, indicating that Great Wall cars are becoming more and more recognized by consumers across the globe.

Spurred on by its successes, Great Wall Motors has reached agreements with partners in Brazil, Thailand, Turkey and other nations to build new assembly plants, and is now exploring possibilities in emerging markets such as Bulgaria, Venezuela and Malaysia. In the meantime, Senegal has joined list of countries where Great Wall cars are now available owing to the completion of an assembly plant, which began operation on September 30.

In the Philippines, Statemotor Corp. (SMC), exclusive distributor of Great Wall cars such as the Wingle pickup, Hover SUV and Coolbear passenger in the country, is now in the final stages of completing its own assembly plant in Las Piñas City.

"We are looking forward to commencing the assembly of Great Wall cars in the Philippines, which is a momentous occasion since it will be the first time that a China-made brand will be built in the country," said John Mabulay, SMC's AVP for sales and marketing, "This will also allow us to bring the Great Wall brand closer to the consumers and provide greater support to our dealers," Mabulay added.
