A gathering of rides from mild to wild and motorsport enthusiasts
Grip Auto Show 2013 featured a gathering of racecars, tuner and motorsport enthusiasts in a weekend event. Aside from cars, race organizations and teams like AUTS Racing, Circuit Showdown, Racing With Legends, and Winds Formula Philippines were also present to introduce visitors to what the local motorsport scene has to offer.
Worthy of note was the ‘Dekatora’ styled jeepney with bling and neon lights, was inspired by Japanese Dekatora trucks. Unique Autoworks brought a quartet of their styled and tuned sports cars: the 2012 Manila Auto Salon Best of Show 997 Porsche 911, 2011 Trans Sport Show Reserve Best of Show Lamborghini Diablo, a Lamborghini Gallardo, and a 993 Porsche Carrera 4S. The Detail Plus display was highlighted by their Toyota 86 Rocket Bunny trio flanked by an Acura NSX, and compact tuner mainstays Honda Civic and Lancer Evo.
The event also featured dynamic demonstrations by the Winds Formula cars of the Zebra Racing Team with SJ Park and Jeremy San Diego behind the wheel, and a drift tandem demo by Gio Rodriguez and Ralph Tan.
The event was a unique mix of shiny tuner cars and race cars under one roof offering an alternative experience for ‘local’ car shows for the market South of Manila. It’s reminiscent of Ignition events organized by AutoIndustriya.com in the past.
