New Euro Honda Civic will use the rear Adaptive Damper System
As a follow up to the unveiling of the Honda Civic Tourer Concept at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show, the production model will finally debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September.
The new Civic Tourer will feature either the 1.8 i-VTEC engine or 1.6 i-DTEC engine from the Earth Dreams Technology series with the choice of manual or automatic transmission. The 1.6 i-DTEC diesel engine was first applied to the Civic 5-door and subsequently to the new CR-V. Its engine design was made specifically for the European Market and is built at Honda’s UK manufacturing factory.
This will be the first time a rear Adaptive Damper System has been applied to a production model. The system features comfort, normal and dynamic settings, which has been developed for enhanced stability and comfort under the varying load and driving conditions that the car will be subjected to.
The Civic Tourer was developed and designed in Europe led by the region’s R&D team. During testing, the car was subjected to Europe’s harshest and most diverse driving conditions. The model will be produced at Honda’s UK manufacturing factory in Swindon.
