All new Honda midsize sedan to break cover by month's end
After quite a while, Honda Cars Philippines, Inc. has announced that the launch date for the much-awaited, all-new Honda Accord
The 9th generation Accord, which was revealed and launched to our neighbors in Thailand at the 2013 Bangkok International Motor Show, features an entirely new look all around, improved comfort, NVH, performance and efficiency.
Local vehicle and engine specs are still unreleased, but foreign examples of the Accord (including Thailand) feature direct injection in the new Earth Dreams 2.4 liter Inline-4 engine for improved efficiency and reduced emissions, as well as a new Continuously Variable Transmission or CVT. The 2.4 produces 174 PS (Thai model) and 226 N-m, though some of the foreign 'Sport' models (U.S. models) make up to 189 horsepower. The Thai version also gets a 2.0 i-VTEC, though it seems that version won't be launched here.
The V-6 also gets Earth Dreams technology by way of upgrades to the VTEC and Variable Cylinder Management (modular displacement). As such, the new V6 gets 278 horsepower (previous: 250 hp) and is mated to a 6-speed automatic.
Prices are still unreleased, but expect the Accord 2.4L to be priced around PhP 1.7-1.8M, while the Accord 3.5L V6 should be around the PhP 2.0M mark.
