On pause

2011 is getting to be a year of challenges for the local auto industry. Following the recovery from Japan's disasters that impacted local supplies (both in parts and completely built units, or CBU), another disaster, this time in Thailand, has provided even more problems for the local industry.

In a statement, Honda Cars Philippines announced they had temporarily suspended production activities today because of the shortage of parts and components supplies from flood-ravaged Thailand.

Honda Automobile (Thailand) Co., Ltd. (HATC), Honda's auto production subsidiary located at Rojana Industrial Park in Ayutthaya has suspended production since October 4 due to parts supply disruptions. As of October 31, HATC does not have a clear outlook for when production will resume as flood water on its facilities has continued since October 8, 2011.

Honda operations in other regions also are being impacted by the limited parts supply from Thailand. Each regional/country operation is carefully examining the situation.

Honda deeply regrets any inconvenience this may cause our customers, and request their understanding during these times.
