Recall affects over 19,000 cars
Honda Motor Company has today announced a recall for the Honda Jazz (Fit in some markets), City and CR-V to address an issue with the power window master switch assembly.
Honda Cars Philippines, Inc. (HCPI) would like to inform its customers that a total of 19,143 units comprised of certain models of the 2005-07 Jazz, 2006-08 City and the 2005-06 CR-V are affected by the power window issue.
Honda explains that the problem is rooted by the accelerated wear and tear of certain components in the master power window switch. This "acceleration" is caused by a silicon component commonly used in air fresheners and car cleaning agents. It is possible that the switch may become overheated and release smoke or even burn in the worst case scenario.
As of yet, to accidents or injuries have been reported related to this defect. To get ahead of the problem, Honda Cars Philippines will be sending a letter to all customers with affected cars starting tomorrow, September 6.
The table below has a complete list of affected units and their chassis numbers.
