New compact wagon unveiled in Honda Japan's website
Formerly called the Fit Shuttle in Japan, the new Shuttle wagon will be based on the existing Honda Fit/Jazz platform but comes with an extended rear end for bigger cargo space. At the moment, Honda JP has not released any specifications regarding the added cargo capacity of the Shuttle over the standard Jazz.
Honda JP did reveal the full model lineup for the new Shuttle. It will come in four variants, the entry-level G, the Hybrid, Hybrid X and the top of the line Hybrid Z. The G model comes with manual climate control, electric folding side mirrors with turn signals and a Comfort View Package for 4WD models and rides on 15 inch steel wheels with wheel covers. The G is the only variant without a hybrid powertrain.
From the G model, the Hybrid adds Honda's Smart Key system and automatic climate control. The Hybrid X model includes more convenience features such as cruise control, a Multi-Use basket and an optional navigation system. It also comes with LED headlights and paddle shifters. The top spec Hybrid Z adds foglights, heated seats with power adjust, individual climate control, woodgrain trims, roof rails and 16 inch wheels.
Power is provided by a 1.5 liter engine direct injection engine with an Atkinson Cycle electric motor and lithium-ion batteries in the Hybrid models. All models shift through a seven speed dual clutch transmission which Honda calls i-DCD.
More details on the upcoming Shuttle are, in Honda words, coming soon.
