Honda Cars Philippines Inc., recently spruced up its City lineup with the long awaited 1.5-liter VTEC variant. With this development, Honda has also announced that the production of the City has resumed in its local manufacturing plant in Sta. Rosa, Laguna. The resumption is a testament to its firm commitment to boost its investments in the Philippine economy to provide jobs for the highly skilled Filipino workforce and provide business opportunities to automotive parts suppliers.

"A very important feature of the new Honda City is that it is now proudly Philippine-made. Its higher level of quality and workmanship speaks well of the dedication and expertise of our very own highly skilled associates. With a yearly sales target of 4,000 units, the local assembly of the new City presents greater business opportunities for our automotive suppliers. It was not easy to uproot its production in Thailand but through the dedicated efforts of HCPI management, we resume the production of the Honda City at our manufacturing plant in Laguna. This is our humble contribution to the improvement of the Philippine economy," said Mr. Arnel Doria, Vice President for Sales and Marketing.

The entire City lineup will receive new refinements which include a new taillight design and a new sporty rear bumper design. New 14-inch alloy design will be standard for the 1.3-liter i-DSI, while the 1.5-liter VTEC variant receives more perks. The 1.5-liter variant rolls on 15-inch alloys, and comes equipped with a high mount stop lamp, angle-adjustable roof mounted antenna, color-keyed side moldings and rear disc brakes.

New engine design technologies are applied to the engine giving it better response and fuel efficiency and a specially designed exhaust system allows for cleaner emissions. This City variant complies with the stringent EURO4 emission standards, making it an environmentally friendly vehicle.

Supplemental safety features include Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Electronic Brake Force Distribution (EBD), Brake Assist (BA), Dual SRS Airbags and Pretensioner seatbelts with load limiters along with Neck shock mitigation seats. Further peace of mind is ensured with the Wave Key lock system that serves as an anti-theft measure.
