Honda watches out the La Mesa Watershed for five years
Honda has been a catalyst in addressing environmental and social concerns and has continuously promoted environmental protection and preservation in both global and local arena. Honda Group of Companies in the Philippines has been supporting ABS-CBN's Bantay Kalikasan since 2002. For five years, Honda officers and associates have been trudging to the watershed to plant seedlings in the "adopted" hectares. In fact, the company has already adopted 13 hectares of land at the La Mesa Watershed. Some of Honda's fruits of labor are the tall and healthy Cupang and Mahogany trees planted years ago.
Mr. Takashi Sekiguchi, President of Honda Cars Philippines, Mr. Kazuhiko Izekoe, President of Honda Philippines, Inc. and Mr. Yoshinori Yoshizawa, Vice President of Honda Parts Manufacturing Corporation led the activity. Honda volunteers planted 800 seedlings in the 3-hectare land. Although physically tired and hot, they were happy and exhilarated at the end of the activity. The three executives pledged to hold the tree planting activity annually.
Bantay Kalikasan's Adopt-a-Hectare Project aspires to reforest the depleted portions of La Mesa Watershed. With the support of groups and organizations, the goal to rebuild the shattered watershed lingers on.
Honda is a leading company in the automotive industry. Yet, its involvement doesn't stop there. To date, Honda has been active in promoting environmental awareness and in participating in the government's eco-centered projects. Thus, helps in making the world a better, cleaner, and safer place to dwell.
