Needs 40 orders before production goes full swing
A couple of years ago, Huet Brothers was about to launch a retro inspired sports coupe based on the current generation Mazda MX-5 Miata.
Named the Huet Brothers Coupe, it was set to go on sale this year but the Dutch company decided to hold production despite gaining a lot of market interest.
Paul Huet, a Huet-Brothers co-founder, explained that the company is now waiting for the next-generation Mazda MX-5 Miata in 2015 before the production goes on full swing.
Huet also said that the company is waiting for more orders before they proceed with production. Currently it has 21 orders, but Huet Brothers needs to have 40 before production gets going.
As seen at the 2014 New York Auto Show, the fourth-generation Mazda MX-5 will be equipped with a Skyactiv-1 chassis. This makes the car weigh 100 kg less than the previous model.
The Huet Brothers Coupe will feature a carbon fiber body because the primary focus of the company is to make the car’s weight as low as possible. With this, the Dutch company says the car may weigh less than 816 kg.
