Live (economically) brilliant
During the Hyundai Eon Live Brilliant Economy Run held on June 20, the Hyundai Eon M/T achieved a fuel economy figure of 30.532 km/l.
The run consisted of highway driving from Hyundai North Edsa all the way up to Caltex La Union, plying the North Luzon Expressway, Subic Clark Tarlac Expressway, the detour through Nueva Ecija and parts of MacArthur Highway.
Of the 20 Hyundai Eons that took part, 14 of them were able to break the 20 km/l mark, with 6 of them averaging 27 km/l or better. Being a contest with time constraints, penalties were handed to the car that achieved the 30.532 km/l, bringing their score down to 27.166 km/l.
The top 3 (after penalties) had Eon #12 doing the best, clocking 29.361 km/l driven by Ronnie Trinidad (Sprocket.ph) and Charlie Cruz (Wave 89.1). In 2nd place was Eon #9 driven by the father and son team of Ron Delos Reyes and Ronald Delos Reyes (AutoReview). 3rd place was Eon #8 driven by Vince Pornelos (AutoIndustriya.com) and Inigo Roces (Manila Bulletin).
